Biography
Sylvia Wilson Allen graduated from Northwestern High School in Baltimore, Md.
in 1985, majoring in visual arts. Her work caught the attention of one of the art
teachers, who suggested she apply to the 4th art college in the nation. With the help
and guidance of her teacher, she won 1st place in the student voters registration poster
contest. She went on to graduate, was placed on the Principle's success roll and
received a full-tuition scholarship to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art. She
transferred to the University of Baltimore to pursue an education in Corporate
Communication focusing on television, video and film production.
In April of 1998, she obtained a position working in the Media Lab at
The University of Baltimore. She gained valuable experience working with various
equipment and software. She focused her goals on starting her own production
company and developing/producing her own music video show. In the fall of 1998
she acquired an intern position at Flite 3 Studios in the post-production department
located in Baltimore, Maryland. While gaining the knowledge of various editing and
imaging software programs she created a logo from two dimensional to three
dimensional which led to the launch of Sylvideo Productions.
In June of 1999, Sylvideo Productions introduced "the Sylvideo Show." Ms. Allen
not only produced the show she also hosted it. The show got the attention of the
Director of Media Relations at the University of Baltimore, which led to an article
about her and the show in the UB Post Magazine. When the article was distributed it
reached a variety of students who were interested in working with Ms. Allen under
her production company. She then became an Executive Producer managing a staff
of five people such as Media Director, Director of Photography, Production
Assistant, Legal Intern and Marketing Director.
Ms. Allen has made a personal and professional commitment to educate and
entertain a growing audience. In December 2000 she graduated from the University
of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In order to pursue her career
goals, she relocated to Los Angeles, CA. In 2010. Ms. Allen re-launched Sylvideo
Productions in Los Angeles and acquired her producing certification at New York
Film Academy-Universal City. With hard work and dedication, her short film
entitled “I Want A Man,” won the 2011 Indie Award of Merit, making Ms. Allen and
Sylvideo Productions an award-winning Executive Producer and company. The
winning film in 2012 was an Official Selection in the Villeneuve D'ascq Festival
International Du Film Black-FRANCE, gaining Ms. Allen and Sylvideo Productions
recognition around the world. She was nominated for ‘Women Making Difference,’
award in 2013 by the Los Angeles Business Journal. An adaptation of “I Want A
Man,” screenplay, written by Ms. Allen was the 2015 ‘Hot 100 List,’ Winner of
Capital Fund Screenplay Competition.
Her latest achievement comes as no surprise capturing the interests of a publishing
company with her screenplay, “Witness of Love,” adapting it into a thrilling page
turn novel, “Witness of Love, When Loyalty Kills.” Currently published by Sylvideo
Productions, distributed through Amazon and marketed as a bestseller. “Witness of
Love, When Loyalty Kills,” was an 2016 ‘Honorable Mention,’ winner-New York
Book Festival. Ms. Allen was nominated in the 2017 ‘Women in Business,’ award by
the San Fernando Valley Business Journal.
Through Sylvideo Productions, Ms. Allen developed a partnership in 2015 with
Lustgarten Foundation in New York, hosting her 1st Annual Pancreatic Research
Fundraiser, donating 90% of proceeds to the Foundation in honor of her mother. Ms.
Allen has also developed business relationships around the world, developing her
first brand named product in the Beauty Industry, “Syntilicious, A Taste of Top
Coat,” launching soon.
